Terms of use
Last updated: 1 November 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Menti (“Menti”, “we”, “us”), an independent app made in the United Kingdom. They apply when you use the Menti app and this website. By creating an account or using Menti, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Menti.
Your licence to use the app comes from Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”). These terms add to the Apple EULA. If they conflict, these terms apply, except where the Apple EULA sets out something Apple requires. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
2. Menti is a self-care tool, not medical care
Menti is designed for everyday wellbeing: mood check-ins, journalling, breathing, sleep and habits, reflection and a companion that grows with you. It isn’t a medical device, doesn’t diagnose or treat any condition, and isn’t a substitute for a doctor, therapist or other qualified professional. Features with names like “therapy session” are guided self-reflection with an AI, not therapy from a person. If you’re worried about your mental or physical health, please talk to your GP or another qualified professional.
Menti is not an emergency service. If you are in danger or might harm yourself, contact emergency services now. In the UK, call 999, call Samaritans free on 116 123 (24/7), text SHOUT to 85258, or call NHS 111. In the US, call 911, or call or text 988. More crisis resources
3. Who can use Menti
You must be 18 or over to use Menti. You need an account, and each account is for one person. Please give accurate details when you sign up.
4. Your account
Keep your sign-in details secure and don’t share your account. Tell us at support@mentiapp.com if you think someone else has used it. You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your data and can’t be undone.
5. AI features
- Menti’s AI chat, reflection sessions, insights and Live Talk voice conversations are produced automatically by third-party AI models. You’re talking to software, not a person.
- AI replies can be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate. Don’t rely on them for medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and don’t use them in an emergency.
- Menti looks for signs that you may be at risk and shows crisis support when it finds them, but it can miss things. Nobody at Menti watches your conversations as they happen, and we can’t contact emergency services for you.
- Some AI features need premium access or an active free trial, and may have fair use limits so the service stays available for everyone.
6. Premium, subscriptions and free trials
- Menti is free to download. Some features need premium: a monthly subscription (£5.99 or $5.99), a yearly subscription (£59.99 or $59.99), or a one-off lifetime purchase (£199.99 or $199.99). Prices can vary by country and are always shown in the App Store before you buy, including any tax.
- Where a 7-day free trial is offered, it is free and doesn’t turn into a paid purchase automatically. When the trial ends, you choose whether to buy. Nothing is charged unless you do. One free trial per person.
- If you buy a monthly or yearly subscription, payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. It renews automatically at the same length and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app or your account doesn’t cancel a subscription.
- If you cancel, you keep premium until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Lifetime is a one-off purchase that doesn’t renew. It gives you premium for as long as we offer the Menti app.
- If we change subscription prices, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree before you pay the new price.
- Apple sells and processes all in-app purchases, so refunds are handled by Apple under its policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. This doesn’t affect your legal rights, including any right to cancel under UK consumer law.
7. Using Menti fairly
Please don’t:
- try to break, overload or get around Menti’s security, limits or premium checks
- copy, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it
- use automated tools to access Menti or pull data from it
- use the AI features to create unlawful, harmful, hateful or sexually explicit content, or to harm or harass anyone
- share other people’s private information without their permission
- use Menti in a way that breaks the law
If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, we may suspend or close your account. Unless there’s a good reason not to, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to explain.
8. Your content
Your journal entries, moods, messages and other content belong to you. You give us permission to store, process and send them to our service providers only to provide Menti to you, as described in our privacy policy. We don’t publish your content or use it to advertise Menti.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Menti without owing you anything.
9. Our content
The Menti app, its design, companion artwork, sounds, meditations and other content belong to us or our licensors. You can use them for your own personal, non-commercial use under the Apple EULA and these terms.
10. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Menti reliable, but we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. Some features need an internet connection, and we may need to pause Menti for maintenance. We may add, change or remove features to improve the app or to meet legal or safety needs. If we remove a premium feature you’ve paid for in a way that significantly affects you, we’ll tell you, and you may be entitled to a refund from Apple or a remedy under consumer law. If we ever close Menti, we’ll give you reasonable notice so you can export or delete your data.
11. Our responsibility to you
If you live in the UK, you have legal rights in relation to digital content and services that aren’t as described, not fit for purpose or not of satisfactory quality. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. Citizens Advice can tell you more.
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren’t responsible for loss or damage that isn’t foreseeable, for business losses (Menti is for personal use), or for decisions you make based on the app or its AI replies.
Where the law allows, our total responsibility to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Menti in the 12 months before the claim, or £100 (or $100 if you live in the US).
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can’t be limited or excluded by law. If you live in the US, some states don’t allow certain limits on responsibility, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
12. Apple
These terms are between you and Menti, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for the app, its content, maintenance or support. If the app doesn’t meet a warranty that applies, you can tell Apple and it may refund the price you paid; otherwise Apple has no warranty obligation. Apple isn’t responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you. You confirm you aren’t in a country under a US government embargo and aren’t on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
13. Law and disputes
If you have a problem, please email support@mentiapp.com first. Most things can be sorted out quickly.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you live outside the UK, you keep the protection of any consumer laws of your country that can’t be overridden by agreement, and you may be able to bring a claim where you live.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when Menti or the law changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you don’t agree to the new terms, you can stop using Menti and delete your account.
15. General
If a court finds part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still do so later. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to someone else who takes over Menti, and we’ll make sure your rights aren’t reduced. You can’t transfer your account to anyone else. Apart from Apple, as explained above, no one else has rights under these terms.
